Property boundary line disputes

Information about property disputes between neighbors.

Disagreements about property lines are private civil matters. The Marin County Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk does not have the authority to resolve these issues.

Your property boundaries are described in the legal description on your deed. This may include:

  • Distances and directions (called bearings)
  • References to a specific lot or parcel shown on a recorded subdivision or parcel map

  • Professional land surveyor, or
  • Civil engineer
