Tax Exemptions
If you own and live in your home on January 1, you may qualify for a homeowners' exemption. This exemption removes $7,000 from your home’s assessed value, which may lower your property tax by about $70 each year.
Find the Homeowners' Exemption Form here.
How to qualify
To receive the full exemption:
- You must live in the home as your main residence on January 1
- You must file the homeowners' exemption claim form by February 15
If you file between February 16 and December 10, you may receive a partial exemption (80%).
If you buy a home after January 1
You may still qualify for the exemption on your supplemental assessment if:
- The prior owner did not already receive the exemption for the same tax year
- You file the claim form within 30 days of your supplemental notice
