Summary
Confidential Marriage License
A confidential marriage license is not a public record. This means the public cannot view or request a copy of it.
You might choose a confidential license if you:
- Work in law enforcement;
- Are in the public eye;
- Have other privacy concerns.
To get a confidential license, you must swear or affirm that:
- The information you give is true and correct;
- You are both unmarried;
- You live together now;
- There is no legal reason you cannot marry.
You can have the ceremony anywhere in California.
You can start your application online using our Marriage License Application System.
