Summary
When you file a Fictitious Business Name Statement, Abandonment, or Withdrawal of Partner in Marin County, state law requires you to publish a legal notice in a newspaper.
What you need to do
- You must publish the required notice in a newspaper of general circulation in Marin County.
- Publication must begin within 45 days of your filing date.
- The notice must appear in print once a week for 4 consecutive weeks.
- If you are refiling with any changes or your previous filing has expired for more than 40 days, you must publish again.
The newspaper will send a Proof of Publication directly to the County Clerk’s Office. This proof will be attached to your filing.
Important
There are no extensions to the 45-day deadline for publication. This deadline is set by California Business and Professions Code section 17913.
